Healthy boundaries are finding the unique combination of knowing not only when to say “No," but also when to say "Yes.” They are about preserving your energy, taking responsibility for what you have learned and what you need to unlearn. It is about beginning to look at old patterns and filtering out what works and does not work. Setting boundaries is uncomfortable, it is relieving, it is confusing, it is clarity, it is comfort, it is growth. Ultimately, setting boundaries is all about you getting clear about what you want, letting go of other’s expectations, and unlearning all the things that may have applied to your family of origin, but no longer serve you.
My goal in this course is to help you get not only the skills, but a truly deep understanding of boundaries. My hope is that my travels, and the travels I have been honored to witness, will help make your path just a little bit easier. For this course, I will be defining boundaries as: the way we treat ourselves and by extension, teach other’s how to treat us through our communication of our personal rules, do's and don’ts, our ability to say yes or no, and lastly our tolerance to witness other people’s growing pains without needing to relieve their discomfort. If you leave this course thinking about not only the how of setting boundaries, but the where and why you set them, I will consider it a success.
